CBMS Students Win Poster Prizes

The Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences congratulates two of its students who have been recognised for outstanding poster presentations at scientific meetings.

James Cooke, a recent completing Honours student in the department, was awarded the Student Poster Prize for his presentation of his Honours work at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Australian Biophysics Society held at the University of Sydney from 11-13th Dec. His work was titled the "Structure and flycasting mechanism of the C-terminal domain of Troponin I by Site-directed spin labelling EPR spectroscopy".

Anil Gautam, a Ph.D. student, was awarded the Best Poster Prize for his presentation "Source Signatures and Atmospheric Reactions of Volatile Organic Compounds" at the 14th Annual Royal Australian Chemistry Insitute Analytical and Environmental Divisions R&D Topics Student Conference, held at the University of Wollongong on 5-8th Dec. The R&D Topics Conference is for Honours, masters and PhD students with interests in analytical and/or environmental chemistry to present their work as an oral seminar or a poster presentation.  Over 100 students attended this meeting.
